How does it work?
We offer frozen and chilled artificial insemination services for a limited number of mares at our facility in the Manawatu. Our speciality is frozen semen, and Sophie also has a knack for managing mares with persistent endometritis and fertility issues. We believe that success is achieved by not cutting corners: we don't limit the number of scans necessary and work with mares at all hours of the day and night, including weekends. Often, mare owners bear all the risk throughout the breeding process without guaranteed results. Maverick Repro is unique in the breeding industry because we provide a deposit payment plan, sharing some of the risk with you.

Sophie is a skilled molecular biologist and medical researcher by training and trade, and her research career is currently focused on constructing models of neurological degenerative disease from patient-derived induced stem cells. Her work has taken her worldwide and has received many accolades, grants, and recognition. As a product of her job, Sophie is very comfortable with advanced scientific techniques, operating with sterility, understanding genetics, pharmacology, disease and physiological processes, and navigating complex ethical challenges. On top of her BSc in Genetics and PhD in Biochemistry, Sophie is also a qualified equine Artificial Insemination technician. A strong science background enhances how we manage mares at Maverick.
Sophie is approved to work with imported frozen semen from all predominant stallion stations represented in New Zealand and works closely with Clare at CryNZ to facilitate smooth semen release and transport. Enquire about our pricing structure and availability, or book your mare in.
